Upon successful login, you will get the Dashboard page.

All your existing posts are filed under ‘All Posts’. The link is on the left navigation menu.

To create a new post, click on ‘Add New‘. A new, blank post creation page will appear.
Enter the title for your post just under ‘Add New Post’.

1. To create a simple post

Just type away in the big box. On the top right hand corner of the box is your option for ‘Visual’ or ‘Text’. Visual means you will see how the page looks like, including the images you’ve inserted. ‘Text’ means what you’ll see it in code form where images or text formatting is used.

Use those editing tools if needed.
To add an image (or PDF, video or audio files), determine where amongst your text you want it to appear.
Click ‘Add Media’.

You get two options – ‘UPLOAD FILES’ or ‘MEDIA LIBRARY’.
If the image has already been uploaded or you are re-using an image already uploaded for another page/post, it should be in the Media Library, simply select it. On the right hand side, select if you want the image/media to be aligned ‘left/right/center/none’, then select if you want the image/media to be linked to media file (itself) to its page or to a custom URL(address) be it to a page on your website or an external website.
Select the size for your image – thumbnail, medium, large or full size.
Click insert into post.

If the image is on your computer, click ‘Upload Files’.
Look for the file on your computer and select. Then click ‘Open’. The file will be uploaded.
Enter the ‘title’, ‘caption’ and ‘alt text’ for that image and click ‘Insert into post’.

When you have finished entering your content, look on the right hand panel. Enter your post ‘category’. You would have been told which category applies for what type of posts on your website. Enter ‘tag’ words if you wish. Enter a featured image if there is one.

Click on Preview button and your new post will be shown on a new tab. This will be how it will look to your visitors. Check and either edit your content further or if it is good to go, click Publish

NOTE, for more control : Under the ‘PUBLISH’ section:
Click on the edit link to reveal your options. They are self-explanatory. Set your options if you wish and click ‘Publish’. If you have chosen a future date, then the post will appear when the date arrives.

2. To add a post with more complex layout

Click ‘Use the Divi Builder‘.

If a template has been created for your particular type of post, click Load from Library and then click Add from Library. Find the template you want and click the Load button.

A template similar to this will load. It will have all the various sections pre-positioned for you.

Simple click on little 3 horizontal lines on the left of each grey box to bring up the content box. Fill the box with your new content, then click Save & Exit.

3. Want to add more content?

Look under each box and you will see ‘+ insert module(s)’

Click on ‘insert module(s)’ and you will get all the options you’ll ever need:

Simply find and click on the module you want and add your content.

Please note these functions which you might find helpful:

  • Edit – will open up the editing box to add or edit your content.
  • Duplicate – this function is very useful if you want to add content using the same settings. Simply make a duplicate, then click on ‘edit’ and change the content.
  • Drag/Drop – You will get this function and cross-arrows when you hover your mouse over a module. At any time this cross-arrow appears, it means you can drag and drop the module to a new positiion. Simply hold down, drag and drop.
  • Delete – just click on the ‘X” and the content is gone.
  • Undo and Re-do – saves work should you change your mind.

To finish off

Enter the category, tags and featured image.
Click Preview to check your work and Publish.

The new post will appear under the category page/s of the category (or categories) you have entered. Some examples of category might be ‘blog’ or ‘events / news / updates / latest news’. If more than one categories have been selected for a post, that means that particular post will appear on more than one pages, ie, on all the category pages you have selected. An example is when you need the post to appear on its category page as well as on the Home page so visitors can easily see you have made a new post.

By default, I disable ‘comments’ for posts. If you need people to be able to make comments on the bottom of your posts, this can be enabled.
