Jade | Web Designer

creating websites since 1996
keeping up with web design changes, trends and requirements

Web design could be regarded as ‘dry’ or technical, but I use it as a way to project my creativity; building web-pages with a touch of my artistic flair.

The motivation for my webdesign work is fun, so I take on each project with enthusiasm. I enjoy knowing every client and what they do. I get a great sense of satisfaction on a job well done on the completion of a website.

I like things done well inside and out, therefore, no work or details are spared on your website even on things that you will not see or know about.

  • I love the fact that website work can be done from anywhere, at any time, on any day.
  • I love meeting new clients, learning about them and what they do.
  • I love maintaining relationships with my clients.
  • I love sharing my clients’ successes and knowing how their websites helped towards their achievements.

I started having an interest in building websites in 1996, not long after getting internet connection on a dial-up modem.

The first websites I made were ‘Fansites’ of various celebrities. To get better control of the designs, I learned HTML and CSS and hand-coded those websites.

Then I became a volunteer worker to maintain a few non-profit organisation websites. To service their website needs, I learned to create websites using Joomla and WordPress. From the websites I created, people started asking me to develop websites for them and my portfolio grew through word of mouth.

At the end of 2010, I resigned from teaching ‘English for Speakers of Other Languages’ which I had been doing for 17 years, at our local school. Website development became my focus.

I am multi-lingual, with English as my main language. My other languages are Malay, Mandarin, Hakka, Hokkien and some Cantonese.

In between my other interests of needlework, artwork, baking, working out at the gym, concerts, travels, friendships and family, I continually keep myself informed of website trend and development.

There is never a down time. I’m always doing, making or learning something.

I learnt a lot from Jade about webby stuff and she gave very valuable advice on website maintenance. Jade generously gives both time and information and I think her service is second to none.Dr L Kearns
